  1. What is a True Domain Name?

    A True Domain name, or Virtual Domain is an Internet Address that will uniquely identify your website. You might have visited websites such as http://www.aol.com, http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.family.com. These are all examples of Virtual Domain names.

     

    Having a Virtual Domain will allow you to have an e-mail address such as jim@yourdomain.com for example.

    To see if your Virtual Domain is available, and is not used by anybody else, please, visit InterNIC's WHOIS database, and type in the domain name of your choice for .com (USA). For com.au click here. If there will is no match, you are able to register that domain name, else you have to choose another one.

  2. Are you an Internet Access Provider?

    No. We are specialized in selling web hosting and web design services only. This will permit us to offer high quality web hosting at extremely low prices.

     

    You will need to have a separate ISP that will provide you with access to the Internet.

  3. Do you handle the domain registration process?

    Yes, we can handle and register new domains for you at a discount. If you are transferring a domain, you will need to handle the domain transfer yourself. We include all the information you need to contact your registrar and move the domain to our servers in the Welcome email you receive after signing up. If you still have problems, email our support team and we'll see if we can help.

  4. How long does it take to set up service?

    This process takes less than an hour (as long as your credit card is approved or payment is made by other means). You will receive your welcome and set-up information by email. Remember, it can take longer for your domain name to point to your new account. However, as soon as you receive your welcome message by email, you are ready to use your new account with your IP number.

  5. What if I want to cancel my account?

    You can cancel at any time as there are no contracts as such.

  6. What are Virtual Servers?       

    A virtual server allows you to establish an internet presence with a high speed connection at a fraction of the cost. The virtual server uses the principal of sharing a server and high speed connection with other companies, therefore significantly reducing the cost of establishing and Internet presence They are ideal for the small business person who prefer to use limited resources for their core business activities. Virtual servers provide all the features of real servers without the hardware and security hassles.

  7. Is my account permitted to have commercial material ?

    Yes, definitely. We have clients whose material range from personal to corporate information. However, we do not allow adult content, spam, warez or illegal content with our services. See our terms and conditions for details on certain content on our servers.

  8. Do you provide tech support?

    Yes, we will provide our customers with technical support to any problems related to services or tools that are offered by us. We also include a help page which is unique to your account type to help you along with your account. If you require further assistance, simply contact our support group. Please realize that at our current pricing tech support can only answer questions regarding our services and features, and cannot assist you with building a web site, or creating and fixing scripts.

  9. How do I upload my website files?

    All hosting accounts come with an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) account which allows you to upload files to your account via an FTP Client. If you do not have an FTP Client, we offer links to download one for free in our help section. Almost all site design programs like Adobe Pagemill, Macromedia Dreamweaver, GoLive, HotDog, Allaire HomeSite, CyberStudio, HotMetal Pro, Netscape Communicator and NetObjects Fusion use FTP to maintain your site

    All Accounts come with FTP and a Web based way to upload files via your control panel.

  10. Do you support Frontpage Extensions?

    Yes, all of our plans support FrontPage 97, 98, 2000, 2002.

  11. Can I change from one plan to another?

    Yes. Changing plans is easy, just let us know and we will set it up for you.

  12. Can I use domain names from other countries (.cc .uk .nu .to)?

    You may use international domains, and we can assist in registering or transfer. The Welcome E-mail we send will tell you the name server information to use for your account.

  13. What if I don't have or want my own domain name?

    You can sign using a third-level domain (sub-domain).(i.e. you.ozwebhost.net)

    Simply decide what third level domain you would like to use. Then when signing up, type in the entire domain (i.e. bob.ozwebhost.net) You will still get all the features including your own IP number and control panel. All email will work with bob.ozwebhost.net, etc.

  14. What steps do I need to take to get my domain transferred and my files uploaded to your servers?

    . Step 1: Sign up with us.

    . Step 2: Within 24 hours you will receive an email from us stating that your account has been set up and issuing you an IP number.

    . Step 3: Transfer your content and test your site on our server with your IP number. You use the IP number just like a domain name. For example, if we give you an IP number of 208.56.200.27, you can put that number in a browser as http://208.56.200.27 to see what your pages will look like on our server. You can also use the IP address to upload your files with FTP, or log into your control panel using the address included in your welcome e-mail to access our web based file manager.

    . Step 4: Then email a domain name transfer request to the appropriate registrar company, the company that you initially registered your domain name through. Use the name servers that are on the signup form when transferring your domain name.

    . Step 5: Once you verify the transfer, the registrar will point your domain name to our name server, and the rest of the world will be able to access your new site on our server with the domain name.

  15. If I register a domain through OzWebHost, what is my total cost, and does the domain belong to me?

    You can register a domain for as little as 1 year. The charge for a domain varies by registrar and country. Whatever the charge it will be at a reduced rate for our clients. There is no additional charge to get a domain name (except normal monthly hosting fees of course).

    If we register a domain name for you, it is indeed your name and you can take it to another host if you wish.

  16. Will my domain work both with the 'www' and without it?

    Yes, you can access your site using both www.domain.com, and domain.com.

  17. What are Autoresponders?

    Autoresponders are a great marketing tool and can save you time answering common questions. You can set up an autoresponder so that when a message is sent to, say, info@yourname.com.au, then your pre-written message is automatically returned to the sender.

  18. Do you provide SMTP service?

    We do offer SMTP service and use POPAuth to prevent SPAM. When one user sends spam, often all users are affected therefore any user who sends SPAM or uses SPAM tools will be removed per our Terms of Service. We also explain how to use your ISP's SMTP server to send outgoing mail if you would like. If you need help, see our support section or email support.
